Panelist Bios

Panelist: Jeremy Shapira

jeremy shapiraJeremy Shapira leads Giant Eagle’s overall Inclusion, Equity, and Diversity strategy as well as its commitment to Stand Up Against Racism. He grew up in Pittsburgh and went to college in Philadelphia.  After a 10-year stint in New York City, Jeremy moved back to Pittsburgh in 2006 to be with his family and work at Giant Eagle.  He has had various responsibilities since then including leading the HR strategy for the Company’s Market District and GetGo brands as well as leading talent acquisition and customer service.  Additionally, Jeremy is very proud of Giant Eagle’s 40-year history of employing people who are differently abled and is thankful to have the opportunity to participate in such meaningful work.

Jeremy serves on the boards of Achieva, Greater Pittsburgh Community Food Bank, and Squirrel Hill Health Center, a Federally Qualified Health Center focused on Pittsburgh’s immigrant and refugee population.  Jeremy also leads Giant Eagle’s United Way campaign, raising over 1.5 million dollars every year for the communities served by the Company.

Panelist: Lee Chernotsky

Lee ChernotskyLee Chernotsky is the founder & CEO (Chief Encouragement Officer) of ROSIES Foundation, a 501(c)(3) organization that generates opportunities for people with diverse abilities to engage and work. He holds an MBA in nonprofit management and has been a leader in disability advocacy and education for over 20 years. Lee currently serves on the Advisory board of RespectAbility Los Angeles and the board of the Culver City Arts Business Improvement District. He is a sought-after speaker on accessibility, creativity, mental health, and social enterprise across industries.

Becky JohnsonRebecca (Becky) Johnson is a nonprofit and public service professional with 12 years of experience in refugee and immigrant services, financial empowerment and program development. As the Director for the JFCS Career Development Center, Becky and her team guide, encourage and individually support jobseekers to reach their career goals.

Prior to joining JFCS, Becky managed the Pittsburgh Financial Empowerment Center from its launch in 2019 through 2021. Before that, she worked in refugee resettlement, providing employment and other critical services to help families transition to their new life in Pittsburgh.
